SHK Music Presents: Debo Ray's Classic Rock Show plus the Kemp Harris Duo at Boston Harbor Distillery
Two of the most talented singers and engaging performers that you’ll ever see in a small, intimate venue like ours. Debo Ray and Kemp Harris gifted us with a supreme performance last December and we can’t be more excited to have them return for this show.
Grammy nominated Debo Ray is a powerhouse vocalist with incredible range, passion and stage presence. She has appeared at Carnegie Hall with Teri Lynn Carrington, as a lead in an opera with the Nashville Symphony Orchestra, and with her own all-star bands on many different stages. Her recently released self-titled debut album has received over 300k streams on Spotify and many rave reviews including one by a critic who describes it as “an album that defies genre, embraces bold musical choices, and showcases one of the most exciting vocalists to emerge in years.”
She has received accolades for every genre she has tackled - from jazz to opera, from funk and r&b to soul and rock. For this show, she’ll be performing classic rock backed by her Band of Bros including songs by Led Zeppelin, The Who, Tina Turner, Aerosmith, Heart, Janice Joplin, ACDC and many more. Opening the evening will be the Kemp Harris Duo. Kemp is truly a New England treasure. In addition to his musical prowess, he is an actor, activist, author, storyteller, and an award-winning educator of young children for some 40 years. He is a deeply engaging, soulful performer who was once aptly described on NPR's On Point as "a thief, a tease and a heartbreaker. He knows too much. And it’s all right there when he sings… beautifully there. He’ll take your breath away.” He will be accompanied by his longtime co-conspirator and harmonica maestro, Adam Osgood.
