Under the direction of Phillip Grannan since 2019, the SHS Jazz Band is composed of current students from Somerville High School in Mr. Grannan's Jazz Club or Jazz Band class. The ensemble is open to any student that wants to learn jazz. Jazz Band can be taken as a class during the school day or as an after school club. This year's band consists of some 16+ students and spans all four grade levels. Some students are returning members from previous years and others are new to the jazz scene. The students are excited to perform an assortment of jazz standards as well as multiple student arrangements and an original composition.
