SHK Music Presents: Listen to This at Boston Harbor Distillery

Miles Davis's early electric music was a groundbreaking, enthralling, funky, rock-infused jazz style that still retains its mystery and power. Listen to This explores Miles's rich legacy, particularly during his early electric period from 1968-1975 when Miles and his crew of geniuses - Joe Zawinul, Chick Corea, Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, John McLaughlin and many others – rewrote the jazz playbook with albums like "In a Silent Way," "Bitches Brew," "Tribute to Jack Johnson," "On the Corner" and "Agharta."
Listen to This is an ensemble of eight veteran musicians exploring this "gateway" music that pulled them into jazz as teenagers in the 70's – and having the time of their lives! They are:
Jerome Deupree (Morphine, Joe Morris) drums
, Dave Bryant (Ornette Coleman) keyboards
Russ Gershon (Either/Orchestra, Lookie Lookie) reeds/keyboards
Bryan Murphy (The Shills) trumpet
Todd Brunel (Clarinet Conspiracy, Improbable Beasts) bass clarinet
J. Johnson (Parlour Bells) guitar ,
Rick McLaughlin (Either/Orchestra) bass
Rick Barry (Bim Skala Bim, Swampanova) percussion.
This wonderful octet has performed their homage to Miles Davis's electric period several times before at the Distillery- all to standing ovations. We cannot be more excited to have them return to our intimate Dorchester refuge.
