Join legendary photographer Henry Horenstein to celebrate the 20th anniversary edition of his classic book Honky Tonk: Portraits of Country Music and the release of his newest book, Miles and Miles of Texas. Henry, who began his career shooting album covers for Rounder Records in the 1970s, is now a celebrated professor of photography at RISD. He will give an interactive presentation showcasing his unique portraiture followed by a book signing. This special event will also feature live music from the Talking Hearts, Boston’s own pioneers of contemporary honky tonk, in a rare acoustic trio setting.
“Henry's world looks quite a bit like country songs sound: full of hard-working operators and lonely dreamers, half-full glasses and scorpion belt buckles, and a few tall hats, boots, bottles as well. It's a world of the honky tonk.”
— Birthplace of Country Music Museum
“From stock car racing to country music stars, [Henry Horenstein] is one of the great documenters of Americana.”
— The Guardian (UK)
