SHK Music Presents: The White Owls with Duke Robillard and Chris Cote at Boston Harbor Distillery

From Rhode Island, Duke Robillard co-founded the influential band Roomful of Blues in 1967, which became known for its tight, horn-driven sound blending swing, jazz, and blues. Over the course of his remarkable career, Robillard has recorded dozens of acclaimed solo albums and collaborated with artists including Bob Dylan, Tom Waits, and The Fabulous Thunderbirds. His masterful guitar work, deeply influenced by legends like T-Bone Walker and B.B. King, has earned him multiple Blues Music Awards and solidified his place as one of the leading blues musicians of his generation.
In addition to his solo work, Robillard spent time as a member of The Fabulous Thunderbirds in the early 1990s and has long been celebrated not only as a blues guitarist, but as a master stylist equally at home in jump blues, early jazz, rockabilly, and classic R&B. A gifted producer and bandleader, he has helped shape countless recordings while continuing to tour internationally, carrying forward a tradition of American roots music with authority, taste, and unmistakable swing.
Chris Cote is one of New England’s most dynamic and versatile vocalists, known for his powerful, genre-spanning voice and commanding stage presence. A fixture on the Boston music scene, he currently serves as the lead singer for Duke Robillard’s band, where his spirited performances and rich tenor have become a highlight of the group’s live shows and recent recordings, including multiple standout vocal turns on They Called It Rhythm & Blues. Beyond his work with Robillard, Chris has lent his talents to an array of ensembles across the region and beyond, showcasing not only his soulful blues delivery but his adaptability across rock, R&B, and jump blues styles.
In addition to his collaborations, Chris fronts his own projects, most notably “Chris Cote and his Band of These Guys,” where he explores roots, blues, and high-energy rock with a seasoned crew of musicians. Whether leading a powerhouse blues set or diving into classic rock tributes, his performances are marked by deep musicality and an infectious energy that connects with audiences of all kinds.
Together, Robillard and Cote promise a captivating performance, blending their deep love for the blues with a musical chemistry that has delighted audiences for years.
Duke and Chris will be backed by The White Owls, one of New England’s finest raunchy Chicago blues-style bands. With Dennis Brennan on vocals and blues harp, Tim Gearan on guitar, Stephen Sadler on lap steel, Jim Haggerty on bass, and Andrew Plaisted on drums, the night promises to be an unforgettable celebration of soul, blues, and exceptional musical talent.
