Velvet Handle, The Apothecary, Stapler
Velvet Handle is a musical collage to stimulate your senses. We blend rock, jazz, psychedelic, punk, and many other genres to create a soundscape that will leave an impact on everyone who hears us. Started by lead singer and guitarist Jake Warman and drummer Ben Poka, we aimed to play music and create an environment where ideas could be transformed into something more. Influenced by bands as varied as Geese, The Doors, Deftones, Misfits, Bjork, Aphex Twin, and many more, Jake, Ben, keys player Keenan Friberg, and bassist Milo Thomas strive to make music unlike anything you’ve ever heard before.
The Apothecary is a rock band from Rhode Island composed of singer/guitarist Drew Joseph, bassist Maks Borowicz, guitarist/violinist Megan Harkins, and drummer Dylan Gardner. Each member has been individually influenced by many different styles of music, all culminating into the vast mixture that is The Apothecary.
Stapler is a four piece alt rock band that seeks to captivate audiences with their driving melodies and luscious harmonies. The band fuses shoegaze guitar soundscapes, melodic jazz bass, hardcore drumming, and catchy vocal hooks to pay homage to the roots of alt rock while pulling influence from a multitude of sources. The most obvious influences are Sonic Youth and Dinosaur Jr., but Stapler has injected their vibe with a healthy amount of emo, jazz, and Japanese rock. As each member comes from a different area of the US and a different musical background, it's no wonder Stapler has such a plethora of unique influences pushing its sound forward. The band started with Jack Wilde(guitar) and Jonas Oliver(drums) with a primary focus on noisy unorthodox chords and intense percussion. It took the addition of bassist Diego Ramos and vocalist Dahlia Hedrick for the band to really find its voice. The magnetic songwriting is spearheaded by Jack and Dahlia while the masterful improv of Jonas and Diego thrusts every song forward with infectious vigor.
