Kimon Kirk

Bassist and singer-songwriter Kimon Kirk released Altitude in 2021, his first solo album in ten years. A founding member of local heroes Session Americana, Kimon has played bass in Grammy-winner Gaby Moreno’s band since 2016. He frequently collaborates with Aimee Mann as bassist and co-writer, and has performed with luminaries Van Dyke Parks, Tony Gilkyson, Alejandro Escovedo, Grant-Lee Phillips, and Rufus Wainwright since moving to LA in 2018. A new single, written with and featuring Robbie Fulks, will arrive this spring, and a new full-length LP is slated for a fall 2025 release.
Joining Kimon at the Burren are his longtime band of Boston musical legends: guitarist Lyle Brewer, keyboardist Jamie Edwards, bassist Jim Haggerty, and drummer John Sands, all of whom appear on Altitude and help to create an album that "shines a golden melodic light on the darker corners of the human soul, beguiling the listener onto a higher plane. It’s a combination of penetrating intelligence and unapologetic catchiness that’s rare but shouldn’t be." (The Daily Vault)
“In a world in which masterful melodic songwriting and rich, understated production were king, philosopher-poet Kimon Kirk would rule with a velvet fist. Beautifully crafted pop in the Wilson-McCartney vein, via Andy Partridge.” —Alex Rubens, Key & Peele
“Altitude could have been the lush, melodic record that was playing on the stereo in 1992
at the party your friend took you to where you first met the person who would later
break your heart into a squillion pieces.” —Aimee Mann
“A glorious album right out of the top drawer. “ —Fatea Magazine, UK
“A beautiful album that melodically contains exceptionally strong pop songs, often with a reflective slant, but with the irrepressible feeling of the best power pop.” —Heaven Magazine, Netherlands
“Altitude is a tremendous showcase for Kirk’s brand of sophisticated pop.” –Twangville
"Some of the greatest musicians this – or any other city – has to offer, the Meds provide finesse and muscle in the proper proportions. Kimon Kirk’s gorgeous vocals, fantastic musicianship, and terrific songwriting will pull you into a world of smart pop music that will stay with you hours after the show is over.” - Billy Beard
