12th Annual Harmony For Humanity – Daniel Pearl Music Day
Hosted by Dino Cattaneo
This Boston music scene October tradition returns to the Burren for the third year.
Hosted by beloved Boston music community member Dino Cattaneo (aka Dee Zaster), Harmony for Humanity celebrates the idea that music is a universal language that encourages fellowship with a unique event that brings musicians together in a collaborative fashion. A killer house band backs some of Boston’s best singers, playing their interpretation of great covers.
Over the past 11 years, the show has seen over 70 vocalists sing their favorite songs. What makes the shows memorable and full of surprises is that it’s an opportunity for the artists to venture into genres that they cannot play in their regular shows Folk singers rocking to AC/DC or dancing Lady Marmalade? YES PLEASE! Running Up That Hill with two drummers? We did it 5 years before it went on Stranger Things!
Other artists covered in the past include: Peter Gabriel, Chaka Khan, Heart, Ghost, Portishead, Iggy Pop, The Beatles, Bob Dylan. Edith Piath, LaBelle, Linda Rondstadt, Free, Loretta Lynn, Labelle, George Michael, Credence Clearwater Revival, Prince, Judy Collins, Tom Petty, The Rolling Stones, Roy Orbison, Talking Heads, Van Halen, Thelonius Monk – many of them on the same night!
House Band:
Dee Zaster & The Designated Drivers: Marco Giovino, Sean McLaughlin, Peter Moore, Tony Savarino
Featured vocalists:
Beggars’s Ride, Tom Bianchi, Susan Cattaneo, Leesa Coyne, Jess Tardy, Dee Zaster
#WeStandWithEvan
In the spirit of Daniel Pearl, and in support of the protection of journalists all over the world, this year’s event is dedicated again to Evan Gershkovich the Wall Street Journal reporter who was detained in Russia on March 29 2023 while on a reporting trip and is now facing a false accusation of espionage in a secret trial.
Daniel Pearl World Music Days
Daniel Pearl World Music Days is an international network of concerts that use the power of music to reaffirm our commitment to tolerance and humanity.
Daniel Pearl World Music Days was created in response to the 2002 kidnapping and murder of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl at the hands of extremists in Karachi, Pakistan. Danny's family and friends came together to work towards a more humane world, forming the Daniel Pearl Foundation. The mission of the Foundation is to promote cross-cultural understanding through journalism, music, and innovative communications.
Danny was a talented musician who joined musical groups in every community in which he lived, leaving behind a long trail of musician-friends spanning the entire world. Commemorating Danny's October 10th birthday, World Music Days uses the universal language of music to encourage fellowship across cultures and build a platform for "Harmony for Humanity."
