SHK Music Presents: the Return of Lookie Lookie at Boston Harbor Distillery
Lookie Lookie – one of the most popular acts at the Distillery – has been on hiatus most of 2024, but we're excited that they're coming back for one of their patented dance parties.
An extraordinary eight piece Latin band, Lookie brings a smile inducing, danceable sound, blending Afro-Caribbean grooves with elements of soul, rock and pop. Featuring four percussionists, three horns, bass and vocals in both Spanish and English, Lookie never fails to create a Cuban street party atmosphere. And you don't need salsa dance skills to get up and move to their Latin Bugalú sound.
Latin Bugalú was the hot style of the late 1960's, emanating from New York and traveling across the Latin music. With songs by Eddie Palmieri, Ricardo Ray, Joe Cuba, Pete Rodriguez, George Guzman, Jimi Hendrix and more, these eight wonderful musicians bring this music to life like very few others:
Vicente Lebron: congas
Jorge Arce: bongó, cowbell and claves
Rick Barry: timbales
Ken Winokur: guiro, claves, shekere, Vibraslap and probably other things
Gregory Ryan: the Ampeg baby bass
Eric Ortiz: trumpet
Melanie Howell Brooks: alto sax and flute
Russ Gershon: tenor sax and flute and does the arrangements
