Emperor Norton’s Stationary Marching Band has been entertaining New England and national audiences at Honk and similar events with their infectious energy since their Somerville based founding some 15 years ago. They are described as having “Raunchy circus roots. Polished precision performances. A joyful cacophony of Balkan, Klezmer and funk, with a tasteful thrash of metal thrown in for good measure. This Way to the EGRESS is a band out of Bethlehem, PA who also formed some 15+ years ago.  Since then, they have mesmerized audiences across the country and internationally.  Their sound has been described as a bit like a musical lovechild of Tom Waits and Patti Smith. This six-person troupe plays a swooning and swinging amalgam of styles that catapults the listener through time and space with unexpected shifts of styles, costumes and time signatures. Confetti snowstorms, tuba farts, Balinese chanting, fire wielding evangelists, and puppets sweep across the stage creating a jubilant, anything goes atmosphere, anchored by the band’s superlative songwriting skills and sterling musicianship.  They feature vocals, piano, violin, guitar, banjo, accordion, percussion and a tuba.
